Banks Construction Company is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Grading Division. This is a great opportunity for someone with heavy equipment experience who wants steady work, overtime opportunities, and a long-term career with a local company. In this role, you'll be part of a grading crew working on major projects throughout the Charleston area, including commercial sites, highways, interstates, ports, and other heavy civil infrastructure projects.

About the Grading Division


Our Grading Division helps build the foundation for major construction projects. Grading crews prepare sites, move material, stabilize soil, support excavation work, and help create the base needed for roads, highways, commercial developments, and other heavy civil projects.


What You'll Do


As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you'll operate heavy earthmoving equipment and support grading operations on active jobsites.

You may operate equipment such as:

  • Dozers
  • Excavators/trackhoes
  • Other heavy earthmoving equipment

You will also help with:

  • Operating heavy equipment safely around crews, traffic, and active jobsites
  • Performing grading and sitework activities on heavy civil construction projects
  • Preparing and stabilizing soil and other materials
  • Cleaning and preparing jobsites
  • Digging trenches, supporting excavation work, and cleaning debris as needed
  • Maintaining equipment and keeping it in good working condition
  • Communicating with your crew and supervisor to meet safety, production, and quality goals
  • Assisting with other duties as directed by the site supervisor
What We're Looking For 


The ideal candidate is experienced, dependable, safety-minded, and ready to be part of a hardworking team.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has 3-5 years of heavy equipment operating experience
  • Has experience operating dozers, excavators, trackhoes, or similar heavy equipment
  • Has a valid driver's license
  • Is comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions
  • Can work safely around people, traffic, and active jobsites
  • Takes pride in maintaining equipment and doing quality work
  • Communicates well with crew members and supervisors
  • Shows up on time and is ready to work each day
  • Wants to continue learning and growing in the heavy civil construction industry
