Job description

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the full-time Maintenance Technician will perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure that the school's facilities and grounds are clean, safe, and fully operational. The successful candidate must be a reliable, hands-on problem-solver who can work independently and as part of a team, while consistently demonstrating a positive, service-oriented attitude that aligns with the school's Chrisitan mission and values. Standard schedule is Monday - Friday (12:00 pm - 9:00 pm). However, hours may be adjusted based on need/event schedules.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be the point of contact for all school-related activities during working hours as it pertains to maintenance tech responsibilities.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for various school activities and special events.
  • Perform routine inspections of school buildings, grounds, and athletic facilities to identify maintenance needs.
  • Complete assigned work orders promptly and professionally, including basic repairs including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, janitorial, alarm panels, HVAC systems, etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure longevity and safe operations of equipment and systems.
  • Assist with the upkeep of the grounds and debris removal to ensure a clean and inviting environment.
  • Communicate proactively with school faculty and staff regarding maintenance issues and provide friendly, courteous service to all faculty, staff, students, and guests.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and assist in emergency response efforts, such as for inclement weather or power outages.
  • Assist with monitoring the security of the campus by following proper lock-up and opening procedures.
  • Coordinate with and assist external contractors for specialized repairs or large- scale projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work completed and inventory used.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS/REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Mission, Vision, Values, Biblical Beliefs, Statement of Faith of Southside Christian School and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
  • Must be able to articulate a deep understanding of a biblically informed worldview by integrating Biblical truth into daily work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Proven experience in general maintenance, facilities repair, or related skilled trade.
  • Skilled in the use of a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Excellent problem solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting up to fifty pounds, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and may involve exposure to dirt, dust, and noise.
