BGC Albion — Children Afterschool Program Worker
Department: BGC Albion Club
Position Type: Part-time (15 hours/week)
Wage: $18.20/hour + pay equity and 4% vacation pay
Schedule: Monday to Friday: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Work Location: Schools in the Rexdale/Jamestown area
Start Date: September 3, 2026
End Date: June 29, 2027


Position Summary
The BGC Albion Children Afterschool Program Worker assists in the planning and delivery of after-school program activities, trips, and events for children aged 4–12 who live in north Etobicoke.


Accountability
Staff are expected to be ready, when asked, to explain the reasoning behind a decision or action to other staff or community members — especially when that decision or action affects them. When affected by programming, policies, and procedures, staff are expected to offer input and opinions where relevant to the development of new or changing services, policies, and procedures.

Supervised By: BGC Afterschool Site Lead; BGC Children/Youth Coordinator; BGC Child/Youth Manager


What You'll Do
Program Implementation
•    Develop and deliver age-appropriate activities for after-school participants, in line with funder requirements
•    Help deliver the program's three core components: homework and arts & crafts; snack preparation and nutrition activities; and sports and physical activities
•    Supervise participants throughout after-school programming
•    Help create a positive, creative, and emotionally and intellectually stimulating environment
•    Model and teach positive social interaction and problem-solving skills
•    Keep the program space safe, clean, and healthy
•    Help maintain program supplies
•    Be available to work evening shifts
Staff & Team Maintenance
•    Report any challenges or emergencies to the Site Lead/Coordinator promptly
•    Work cooperatively with the team to plan and deliver activities, events, and trips
•    Identify training needs
•    Attend all team and staff meetings
Administration
•    Assist in recording and maintaining participant information in KidTrax
•    Maintain attendance records and other relevant site information
•    Record, maintain, and submit incident reports as required
•    Submit timesheets on time
Meetings
•    Attend and actively participate in BGC staff meetings
•    Attend and actively participate in any special event meetings


What You'll Bring
•    Experience working with culturally diverse children
•    Knowledge of planning and delivering children's activities
•    Good written and verbal communication skills in English
•    Knowledge of the Rexdale community is an asset


Requirements
•    HIGH FIVE Certificate (Principles of Healthy Child Development)
•    Proof of police clearance (vulnerable sector check)
•    Current Emergency First Aid certificate
