Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and creative After School Program Instructor to engage school-aged children in a fun, supportive, and structured after-school environment.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and can lead engaging activities that encourage creativity, learning, and positive social interaction. Experience with classroom management is strongly preferred.
Locations are in Redford and Centerline, MI.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and engage school-aged children during after-school hours.
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, games, arts and crafts, and creative projects.
  • Create a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Provide guidance and encouragement while helping students develop social and creative skills.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom management and establish clear expectations for student behavior.
  • Assist with transitions and maintain a safe, organized activity space.
  • Encourage student participation and adapt activities to different interests and skill levels.
  • Communicate professionally with program staff, students, and families as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with school-aged children in a classroom, childcare, after-school, camp, or similar setting.
  • Strong classroom management and behavior-management skills.
  • Creative, energetic, patient, and dependable personality.
  • Ability to lead group activities and keep children engaged.
  • Crochet skills are highly preferred!
    • The ability to crochet and teach basic crochet techniques to students would be a great asset.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to commit to the Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM–5:30 PM schedule.
