Job description

Under the direction of the Supervisor of School Performance, the School Performance Coach enhances school improvement efforts by building the capacity of instructional coaches/specialists and fostering collaboration across schools and departments. The role ensures effective implementation of evidence-based practices in all content areas.
The School Performance Coach is an instructional leader focused on improving learning outcomes through targeted strategies, including, CSIP development support, school progress monitoring, and data-driven instructional leadership. The role supports district priorities through professional learning, coaching, and aligned instructional strategies.
Essential Functions

  • Partners with the Supervisor of School Performance to advance district-wide instructional priorities based on the VDOE School Performance & Support Framework and research based strategies for school improvement.
  • Provides professional development, mentoring, and coaching to instructional coaches/specialists.
  • Demonstrates and models research-based strategies for high-quality instruction aligned with district curriculum and standards.
  • Collaborates with instructional coaches and school teams to support MTSS implementation and effective tiered academic interventions.
  • Works with content coordinators, administrators, and instructional staff to promote consistent instructional practices across schools.
  • Guides instructional coaches/specialists and school teams in analyzing student performance data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Designs and leads collaborative learning opportunities focused on instructional best practices and adult learning.
  • Supports school teams in assessing the effectiveness of coaching and instructional strategies.
  • Facilitates reflective dialogue to encourage continuous improvement among school leaders and coaches/specialists.

  • Master's Degree in Education, Reading, Mathematics, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field.
  • Valid Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License with appropriate endorsement(s).
  • Five (5) years of successful full-time teaching experience with demonstrated impact in instructional coaching.
  • Strong record of leading or supporting professional development and instructional improvement.
  • Experience as an instructional coach or teacher leader.
