Job description

The West Plains R-VII School District is currently seeking applications for the position of Middle School Music/Choir Instructor for the 2026-2027 school year. The position will also be teaching courses at West Plains High School. The majority of the courses will be co-taught with the high school music instructor.

The successful candidate will be able to provide individuals and groups the fundamental music and performance skills, as well as an appreciation of music through vocal instruction. The successful candidate will also be responsible for concerts, contests, and various performances throughout the school year. Candidates should be able to provide a positive, successful educational experience for students, ensuring that all students acquire the skills established by the curriculum.

Candidates should have a working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities, Missouri Learning Standards, and Response to Intervention. West Plains Middle School houses approximately 650 students grades 5-8, (high school approximately 1,150). The West Plains School District has a rich tradition of excellence in music performance and is recognized nationally for the excellence and pride in the program.
