Job description

Position Purpose/Summary Responsible for implementing project-based learning curriculum and complimentary academic enrichment activities for the Summer Enrichment Program. Essential Functions Responsible for developing and implementing a project-based learning (PBL) curriculum and completing a PBL calendar for the program. Participate in a planning and curriculum development designed to foster more consistency between day-school and afterschool programs.

Willing to be part of a blended staff of other teachers, paraprofessionals, assistant homework coordinators and students. Act as program liaison with classroom teachers to insure completion and receipt of required pre-and-post Survey of Academic Youth Outcomes (SAYO). Responsible for all aspects of programming including project-based curriculum, program evaluation, student evaluation and record-keeping for the afterschool program.

Participate in all evaluation efforts for the afterschool program. Responsible for all aspects of program record keeping (i.e. attendance, and snacks) for the afterschool program Report to the site supervisor, project director, and the Afterschool Advisory Board

Work with staff to increase opportunities for students in the afterschool program to learn and practice new ELA and 21st Century skills. Work with teachers and school staff to promote the afterschool program and foster cooperation between the two entities. Participate in follow-up staff meetings to share experiences and formulate a plan to continue partnerships between in-school and afterschool programs Address any additional program-related needs or requirements.

Responsible for providing auxiliary services such as preparing, organizing and presenting materials to students and/or performing clerical tasks. Facilitate afterschool food program. Attend monthly curriculum training.

Responsible for working with parent engagement facilitator to facilitate parent engagement activities. Responsible for communication with parents regarding successes and conduction weekly listening conferences. Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Full knowledge of project-based learning strategies. Ability to implement project-based learning curriculum. Ability to work as part of a blended staff including other teachers, paraprofessionals, assistant homework coordinators and students.

Ability to demonstrate compassion, understanding, acceptance when working with participants, families and staff. Ability to express oneself clearly through written and verbal communication. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in education or related field.

Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
