Job Summary

As a Procurement Director with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to support the development and production of propulsion systems for the battery-powered aircrafts that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B.

Nidec Aerospace is a newly created Joint Venture between Nidec and Embraer which intends to take a leading role in the Electrification of Aircrafts. From ideation to production, you will work with a diverse and experienced team of design engineers to support aerospace industry leaders and spearhead technological advances in transport decarbonization.
Job Description
In this position, the candidate will lead the Aerospace Procurement team responsible for sourcing components for motors, electronic controllers and cooling systems. This is a strategic role to support new product development, "start of production" readiness and deliver continuous cost and supplier quality improvements. In addition to direct procurement, this position is responsible for indirect procurement, for all sourcing and negotiation activities related to investments, and for supplier quality.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Create and maintain a strong base of aerospace suppliers for motors, electronics and cooling systems.
  • Adapt the structure of the Procurement Organization as the company moves to new stages of maturity.
  • Define and implement data driven strategies to mitigate risk, reduce spending, improve cash flow and optimize company's financial and operational performances.
  • Create Supply Chain KPI's to monitor performance and progress
  • Participate directly in commercial negotiations for key investments and supply agreements.
  • Build a strategic supplier relationship management process for key suppliers so they can help us achieve our company objectives through continuous improvement, value creation, technical innovation, co-developments...
  • Work closely with procurement organizations of parent companies to leverage their size and contracts for key commodities.
  • Manage and improve the procurement process, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations and ethical standards.
  • Build and lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers. Deploy the processes required to ensure that suppliers comply with aerospace quality standards.
  • Implement workflows to support the SIOP process of the plant.
  • Actively collaborate with Engineering and Suppliers to develop and implement Value Add/Value Engineering processes to improve our material costs.
  • Anticipated travel will be up to 50% both domestic and international

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (proficiency levels aligned to job level)
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, supply chain, or related fields
  • 10+ years of global supply chain experience, preferably in manufacturing or aerospace
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading and negotiating in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management and task prioritization skills are required
  • Fluency in English required, proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Strong capabilities in Excel required, proficiency with database and other data management tools a plus
  • Experience with SAP is a plus
