Job Description

AECOM Construction Management is establishing Data & AI as a core business capability and is seeking an executive leader to build, formalize, and scale this function.

This is a rare opportunity to scale and formalize an emerging Data & AI capability inside one of the world's leading construction and infrastructure organizations. The leader will inherit existing applications, analytics solutions, automation initiatives, governance structures, and stakeholder partnerships, with the mandate to transform them into an enterprise-grade function that changes how projects are delivered.

The Vice President, Data & AI Enablement will lead the strategy, governance, execution, and adoption of Data & AI capabilities across Construction Management. This leader will modernize and consolidate existing data environments, strengthen data platforms and governance, and deliver AI and automation solutions that improve project delivery, operational efficiency, risk management, and business decision-making.

This is a builder role. The ideal leader combines executive influence, technical depth, and transformation experience, with the ability to define strategy, build teams, guide architecture and platform decisions, and turn Data & AI opportunities into measurable business outcomes.

This position will offer flexibility for hybrid work schedules to include both in-office presence and telecommute/virtual work, to be based from either Houston or Dallas, TX.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formalize, scale, and mature Construction Management's Data & AI function, including operating model development, governance, team structure, processes, and accountability.
  • Assess, refine, and scale existing Data & AI capabilities, including data products, internal applications, analytics solutions, automation initiatives, and emerging AI use cases.
  • Modernize and consolidate the data ecosystem, including data platforms, data lake capabilities, integrations, governance, and scalable capabilities that enable analytics, automation, AI solutions, and improved operational decision-making.
  • Own the AI and automation portfolio from opportunity identification through prioritization, delivery, adoption, and measurable business impact.
  • Partner with Construction Management leaders, enterprise technology, cybersecurity, AI teams, and governance groups to align priorities, standards, investments, and adoption.
  • Define and execute a roadmap to consolidate internally developed applications, workflows, and digital solutions into a scalable platform ecosystem.
  • Provide technical leadership across data architecture, platforms, integrations, AI enablement, and technology roadmap decisions.
  • Lead and scale a high-impact Data & AI organization across data platforms, governance, analytics, AI enablement, and program management, while developing capabilities through partnerships with business leaders and technical teams.
  • Drive adoption through change management, stakeholder engagement, education, and enablement programs.
  • Define success metrics and manage investments tied to adoption, efficiency gains, cost savings, risk reduction, and business value creation.

  • Existing internally developed applications and data products are successfully scaled, governed, and integrated into a cohesive platform strategy.
  • A formal Data & AI function with clear ownership, governance, and operating rhythm.

  • A clear roadmap is established for consolidating and scaling business-critical digital solutions into a unified operational ecosystem.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus extensive experience in Data, Analytics, AI, Digital Transformation, Technology Leadership, or related disciplines, including 6+ years of leadership experience, or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale data, analytics, AI, automation, or digital transformation initiatives from strategy through execution.
  • Experience modernizing, consolidating, and governing complex data environments across multiple systems, teams, or business units.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms, data lakes, data architecture, integrations, analytics platforms, AI capabilities, or automation programs.
  • Experience building, scaling, or formalizing a data, technology, digital, or AI function.
  • Ability to operate as a technology leader with enough technical depth to guide architecture, platform, integration, and AI enablement decisions.
  • Demonstrated success delivering measurable business outcomes through data, analytics, automation, or AI solutions.
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, portfolio leadership, and change management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, utilities, transportation, or another project-based operational environment.
  • Experience inheriting and scaling existing Data, Analytics, AI, or Digital Transformation teams, platforms, and operating models while preserving business continuity and stakeholder trust.
  • Experience deploying AI, automation, analytics, or decision-support solutions into operational workflows.
  • Experience leading Data & AI capabilities within a federated enterprise model.
  • Experience partnering with enterprise AI, technology, cybersecurity, and digital transformation organizations.
  • Experience managing technology vendors and investment decisions.
  • Experience scaling lean technical teams during periods of transformation.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
