Are you passionate about supporting families and youth, and making a real difference in their lives? EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 80,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part time Family Advocate for our Suffolk Child Advocacy Center.
  • Wage: $24.00
  • Schedule: 25 Hours per week - Monday through Friday 2pm to 7pm ET
  • Location: Onsite - 84 Wheeler Road in Central Islip, NY

Primary Purpose of Job:
The role of the Family Advocate at the Child Advocacy Center entails offering support and advocacy to children and families impacted by abuse or trauma. This involves coordinating services and assisting the Division Director in ensuring that appropriate support is provided to victims and their non offending family members.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison between victims and social services agencies
  • Assist English speaking victims in preparing and filing paperwork necessary for OVS Victims Compensation.
  • Maintain case records and statistics as required by funders
  • Conduct crisis intervention / needs assessments with clients and provide referrals as needed.
  • Coordinate with other victims' services agencies to avoid duplication of services.
  • Provide back-up and support to CAC Division Director for office coverage.
  • Attend multidisciplinary team case review meetings to support informed decision making.
  • Support the Community Educator by networking, attending outreach events and identifying new resources for CAC clients.
  • Assist in administrative responsibilities of the Child Advocacy Center.
  • After reviewing for accuracy, complete Medical Staff Vouchers and submit PO for services provided.
  • Maintain Medical Staff database and records as required.
  • Transport and escort clients from appointments if needed in own vehicle when necessary including the ability to lift, carry, and secure children into appropriate child restraint car seat

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
  • Associate's Degree required, Bachelors Degree, preferred.
  • Bilingual - Spanish/English is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience. Knowledge of administrative procedures required.
  • Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have access to a vehicle and possess valid NYS driver's license.
