Job description

Position Summary: The Chief Advertising & Sales Officer (CASO) is the senior executive responsible for leading all advertising and sales initiatives across the company's portfolio of newspapers, magazines, digital platforms, specialty publications, and live events. The CASO develops and executes strategic revenue plans that drive sustainable growth while strengthening relationships with businesses, community organizations, and regional partners throughout Southeast New England.

This position oversees advertising and sales operations, leads a high‑performing sales team, and ensures exceptional customer service through consultative selling, innovation, and accountability.

  • Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills with the ability to build trust and collaboration.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and client service skills.
  • Strong knowledge of print, digital, social, and event advertising.
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Strategic planning and business development expertise with the ability to execute revenue growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success and ability to consistently achieve ambitious revenue goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), CRM software (GemStone or similar), and digital sales tools.
  • Self‑motivated, results‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

  • 10 years of progressively responsible sales leadership experience in advertising, media, publishing, broadcasting, or a related industry, with demonstrated success driving revenue growth, developing strategic sales initiatives, and leading high‑performing teams.
  • Proven track record of developing new products and growing advertising revenue.
  • Experience in newspaper, magazine, publishing, broadcasting, or digital media preferred.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and telephone.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to cover events as required.
