What is an advertising executive?

Advertising Executives are professionals responsible for managing and overseeing advertising campaigns for clients or organizations. They work as liaisons between clients and creative teams, helping to develop strategies that effectively promote products or services. Their duties often include meeting with clients, coordinating market research, setting budgets, and ensuring campaigns are delivered on time and within scope. Advertising Executives need strong communication, organizational, and negotiation skills to succeed in this fast-paced industry.

What is the difference between Advertising Executive vs Marketing Coordinator?

AspectAdvertising ExecutiveMarketing Coordinator
CredentialsBachelor's in Marketing, Advertising, or related fieldBachelor's in Marketing, Business, or Communications
Work EnvironmentAdvertising agencies, media companies, corporate marketing teamsCorporate offices, marketing departments, event planning firms
Primary FocusDeveloping advertising campaigns, client management, media buyingSupporting marketing strategies, coordinating campaigns, market research

Advertising Executives focus on creating and managing advertising campaigns, often working directly with clients and media outlets. Marketing Coordinators support broader marketing efforts, handling campaign logistics and research. While both roles require marketing knowledge, Advertising Executives typically have more client-facing responsibilities and strategic planning duties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an advertising executive, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Advertising Executive, you need a strong background in marketing strategy, client management, and campaign development, typically supported by a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with digital advertising platforms, analytics tools, and CRM systems is essential for planning and measuring campaign effectiveness. Excellent communication, creativity, and leadership skills set standout professionals apart in managing teams and client relationships. These skills are critical for delivering impactful advertising solutions, meeting client goals, and driving business growth in a competitive industry.

What are some common challenges advertising executives face when managing multiple campaigns simultaneously?

Advertising Executives often juggle several campaigns at once, which requires exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Balancing competing deadlines, coordinating with creative and media teams, and ensuring client expectations are met can be challenging. Staying adaptable and communicating effectively across departments are key to handling shifting priorities and last-minute changes. Successful Advertising Executives often rely on strong project management tools and clear client communication to keep campaigns on track.

How much do top advertising executives make?

Top advertising executives, such as Chief Marketing Officers or Vice Presidents of Advertising, can earn between $150,000 and over $300,000 annually, with some earning bonuses and stock options that significantly increase total compensation. Salaries vary based on company size, industry, location, and experience, and leadership roles often require strong strategic skills and industry knowledge.

You are looking for a long-term home where your grit and results are rewarded with generous commission and professional freedom.

  • Thoughtfully leverage a curated lead list of existing AEC/CRE industry clients, past clients, and association members to jumpstart your sales efforts.
  • Prospect for new customers (AEC/CRE industry and beyond), create tailored proposals, and close deals to meet or exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
  • Systematically manage a pipeline through high-volume outbound phone calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach to business owners and decision-makers.
  • Utilize existing CRM (Nutshell) and ad management (Magazine Manager) software to track leads, schedule meetings, and provide accurate revenue forecasting.

Strategic Consultative Selling

  • Gain an intimate knowledge of our digital and audio suite, articulating the value of host-read ads, sponsored articles, and premium web placements.
  • Analyze AEC/CRE client needs and present data-backed proposals demonstrating how our specialized audience demographics align with their marketing goals.

Account Management & Collaboration

  • Turn prospects into loyal clients and raving fans by providing exceptional customer service and reporting on campaign analytics (clicks, impressions, downloads).
  • Work closely with the content and production teams to ensure all ad scripts and digital assets are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Complete duties as assigned by your manager.

Qualifications

  • This role is a hybrid role in Denver, Colorado.
  • 2+ years of experience in advertising sales, ideally selling digital media or podcast sponsorships.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, or a related field required.
  • Strong understanding of digital advertising metrics (CPM, CPC, CTR) and proficiency with CRM tools.
  • Experience within Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Construction, or AEC industries is a plus.
  • Must be able to maintain a consistent, hybrid schedule for in-office collaboration.

  • Exceptional Communicator and Collaborator: You are highly responsive with timely internal and external communication, which is crucial for high-volume outreach and upholding the brand promise. You also practice synergy and delivery by collaborating closely with content and production teams to ensure assets are executed accurately and on time.
  • Engaged Self-Starter: You show impact by being an active team player and external representative, attending industry events to establish a dominant presence in the market as an engaged contributor.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and uncapped commission equating to a salary range of $36,000 - $89,000
  • Work Environment: Hybrid schedule
