Wages:ย ย 
$1,000 stipend, plus transportation, fees, and complete outfitting for trip
Not medical or dental benefit eligible.ย 
Primary Objective of Positions:ย 
Ensure a safe and fun adventure for BWCA Wilderness Program participants.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with other Guides in planning and coordinating a six day canoe trip to the BWCA for middle school and high school studentsย 
2. Supervise students during transportation to and from the BWCA and at all times during the canoe camping trip.
3. Provide leadership and guidance to the students; provide instruction in wilderness camping practices, canoeing, and portaging, and leave no trace' practices.ย 
4. Assist students with equipment, portaging, campsite maintenance, cooking, cleanup, and canoeing.ย 
5. Manage student behavior; enforce District behavior guidelines, BWCA procedures, rules, trip safety rules, and no-impact camping practices.ย 
6. Ensure safe experience for students throughout the trip; handle injuries/accidents.ย 
7. Be visible and accessible at all times.ย 
8. Establish a positive and friendly relationship with students.ย 
9. Enforce District policies.ย 
10. Maintain a high level of professionalism.
Job Qualifications:
1.ย Experienced wilderness camper and canoeist.
2.ย Certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR (training will be provided, if needed).
3.ย Map and compass reading.
4.ย Understanding of all rules and regulations in the BWCA.
5.ย Evidence of successful experience teaching or working with teens
6.ย Positive, enthusiastic, respectful attitude
7.ย Ability to relate well to teens and parents
8.ย Commitment to program's high standards
9.ย Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
