Job description

Korn Ferry is pleased to partner with Adventist Health Rideout in their search to identify the next Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Centered in the heart of Yuba-Sutter County, CA, Adventist Health and Rideout has been one of the area's leading healthcare providers since 1907. Their network includes a 221-bed acute care hospital, the Heart Center at Rideout, a Cancer Care Center affiliated with UC Davis Medical Center, primary care, and outpatient clinics, plus a range of ancillary services. With more than 2,100 employees and over 300 physicians, Adventist Health Rideout is dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to the Yuba-Sutter County community. The allure of Marysville's is complimented by its proximity to major metropolitan cities in the Bay Area and Sacramento, as well as just a quick drive to Lake Tahoe.

The Chief Medical Officer will serve as the senior physician leader in the Rideout market, with the role spanning medical and clinical staff alignment and engagement, market strategy, and finance and operations-related topics. The CMO will lead the organization to bring the clinical voice forward, be the patient advocate, act as a subject matter expert for clinical staff and administration, and oversee care transformation initiatives directed by clinical cabinets. The CMO will lead the roll out of local initiatives within the market, and ensure the overall continuous quality improvement of care delivery; they will mentor and develop the existing and future physician and clinical leadership across the market; and they will provide strategic and operational direction for the delivery of clinical care in close partnership with key clinical and operational leaders to ensure the highest level of patient safety and care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads and implements Adventist Health's clinical care model and oversees the care delivery division medical activities. Manages effective care delivery by creating alignment between physicians and clinicians across all service lines to improve quality, experience and value. Drives top decile performance in quality and patient experience for the division.
  • Leads and aligns the Network Service Lines to the System model.
  • Oversees and implements a broad range of strategic initiatives in areas such as clinical quality, performance improvement, patient safety and experience, clinical program development and medical staff relations.
  • Collaborates with leaders across the system to develop and implement innovative approaches to care delivery. Brings different specialties and groups together to solve complex care delivery challenges and promote best practices.
  • Acts as a key advisor to executive leadership on the development of overall policy and long-term goals to achieve clinical excellence and financial stewardship. Ensures appropriate operational and administrative planning that enhances the quality of care and the financial results necessary to achieve organizational goals. Develops and maintains assigned budgets; manages staffing and expense priorities.


Licenses and Certifications:

  • California state Medical Board license required within twelve (12) months from the date of hire.
  • Medical license MD (MD) or Medical license DO (DO) or Physician and Surgeon C (PSC) or Physician and Surgeon A (MDA) or Physician and Surgeon G (PSG).


Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in health care related field.
  • Master's degree in public health, healthcare administration or related discipline is preferred.
  • Fifteen years' of progressively responsible management experience within a healthcare system or complex hospital environment.
  • Ten years' experience as a practicing physician in hospital medicine, primary care or specialty medicine.
