What are 'Advanced Systems' jobs?

Advanced Systems jobs typically involve the design, development, integration, and management of complex technological systems used in industries such as aerospace, defense, telecommunications, or information technology. Professionals in this field work on projects that require a deep understanding of systems engineering, software, hardware, and sometimes artificial intelligence or cybersecurity. These roles often focus on improving the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of large-scale systems. Job titles may include Advanced Systems Engineer, Systems Architect, or Systems Analyst, and often require strong analytical, technical, and project management skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Advanced Systems Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Advanced Systems Engineer, you need a solid background in systems engineering principles, network architecture, and often a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with systems integration tools, cloud platforms, automation software, and certifications like CompTIA or Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) is typically required. Analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective teamwork are vital soft skills for excelling in this role. These skills and qualifications are important because they enable professionals to design, implement, and maintain complex systems that are reliable, scalable, and secure.

In an Advanced Systems position, you'll often collaborate with a wide range of teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, project managers, and sometimes external stakeholders. This cross-functional teamwork is crucial for integrating complex systems and ensuring that all components function seamlessly together. Applicants should be comfortable participating in multidisciplinary meetings, sharing technical insights, and adapting to evolving project requirements. Strong communication and coordination skills are essential, as you'll frequently translate technical concepts for non-technical team members and contribute to joint problem-solving efforts.

Commercial Glass Estimator with experience in curtain wall, storefront, and interior glass systems, supporting large-scale commercial and mission-critical projects.

A Bit About Us

We are a well-established commercial glass and glazing contractor working with some of the largest general contractors in the Southeast. Our work spans mission-critical facilities, large commercial developments, and high-end office interior build-outs.

Our expertise covers the full spectrum of glazing systems from curtain wall and exterior envelope systems to custom interior glass partitions, delivering technically complex scopes on demanding projects where precision matters.

Why Join Us?

Competitive Compensation – $90k - $120k
High-Profile Projects – Mission-critical, complex commercial work
Technical Estimating – Advanced systems, not commodity storefront pricing
Top-Tier Clients – Partner with leading GCs across the Southeast
Stability & Growth – Established company with a strong and consistent backlog

Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Commercial Glass Estimator to lead estimating efforts across a wide range of complex glazing projects. This role requires a strong technical understanding of glazing systems, materials, and constructability, along with the ability to price risk accurately and competitively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed, accurate estimates for commercial glass and glazing projects

  • Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to fully understand scope and risk

  • Estimate complex systems including:

    • Curtain wall (unitized and stick-built)

    • Storefront and entrance systems

    • Interior glass partitions and specialty glazing

  • Work with major glazing system manufacturers and suppliers (Kawneer, YKK, Dorma, and similar)

  • Solicit, analyze, and level vendor and supplier pricing

  • Participate in value engineering, scope reviews, and preconstruction meetings

  • Support bid strategy and pricing decisions

  • Assist with project handoff to operations and project management teams

What We’re Looking For
  • Senior-level experience estimating commercial glass and glazing projects

  • Strong knowledge of complex glazing systems and assemblies

  • Experience working with large general contractors on commercial projects

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction documents

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills

  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with internal teams

Why This Role Matters

This is a key position within our preconstruction team. You’ll play a direct role in winning major projects, shaping scope and pricing strategy, and setting projects up for success long before construction begins.
