Job description

Paul Mitchell Schools is seeking a results-oriented, hands-on Regional Director with proven success leading multiple locations in the beauty education or service industry.

The Paul Mitchell Advanced Education Regional Director will oversee multiple school locations and be responsible for driving overall regional performance, creating operational consistency, developing strong School Directors, and ensuring each campus is aligned with Paul Mitchell Schools systems, financial goals, brand standards, and compliance requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

Our ideal Regional Director is a strong leader and coach who knows how to balance people, performance, operations, and financial results.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Proven multi-unit leadership experience, with 3+ locations preferred, in education, retail, hospitality, or a related service industry
  • A track record of improving performance metrics and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including experience analyzing P&L statements, managing budgets, and driving revenue growth
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, preferably within vocational education or another regulated industry
  • Experience preparing for audits and maintaining operational and compliance standards Exceptional coaching, communication, and leadership skills The ability to lead through influence, accountability, and relationship building

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop School Directors to achieve operational excellence and consistent execution of franchise and brand standards
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, goal setting, and accountability planning with Directors Foster a strong leadership culture aligned with company values and the "Be Nice" culture
  • Identify leadership gaps and support succession planning across locations
  • Provide ongoing mentorship, training, and support to Directors and key department leaders

Operational Oversight

  • Ensure campuses operate in alignment with Paul Mitchell Schools systems, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance through standardized reporting and dashboards
  • Guide Directors in managing staffing, scheduling, and campus operations effectively
  • Conduct routine site visits to evaluate facility standards, team performance, and the student experience

Financial Performance & Analytics

  • Oversee regional financial performance, including revenue, expenses, profitability, and ROI
  • Analyze trends across locations and implement strategies to improve performance
  • Ensure Directors effectively manage budgets, payroll, and expenses
  • Review key financial metrics, including enrollment, retention, service revenue, and retail, and hold Directors accountable to established goals
  • Support forecasting, annual planning, and financial reporting processes

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure campuses comply with state, accrediting agency, and U.S. Department of Education requirements
  • Oversee preparation for audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting
  • Monitor financial aid and operational compliance across assigned schools
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to compliance, operations, and financial performance

Enrollment & Growth Strategy

  • Partner with School Directors and Admissions Leaders to meet enrollment targets and class-start goals
  • Review CRM data and enrollment pipelines to identify opportunities and challenges
  • Support regional marketing and community outreach strategies
  • Drive initiatives designed to improve conversion rates, retention, and student outcomes

Education & Student Outcomes

  • Ensure each campus maintains high standards in education delivery and curriculum execution
  • Monitor key outcomes including attendance, graduation rates, licensure, and placement
  • Support School Directors in developing Education Leaders and maintaining compliance with education standards
  • Drive continuous improvement in student satisfaction and performance

Sales, Service & Brand Experience

  • Ensure consistent execution of the service guest experience, clinic classroom operations, and retail performance Monitor inventory control, cash management, and operational systems
  • Uphold brand standards across campuses, including marketing, promotions, and the in-school experience

Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as a primary liaison between ownership groups and School Directors
  • Communicate regional priorities, initiatives, and performance results clearly and consistently
  • Lead regional meetings and participate in company-wide leadership events
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, compliance, education, and marketing teams
Qualifications
  • Proven leadership experience managing multiple locations or business units
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive results
  • Deep understanding of operations, team development, and performance management

Work Environment

This is a multi-location leadership position requiring travel to assigned campuses. Work will be performed in both office (home office possibility) and school environments, and the Regional Director must be comfortable managing multiple priorities and needs in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage distractions.
