Director, Advanced Analytics - Pricing & Underwriting

The Director, Advanced Analytics serves as the technical leader for advanced analytics supporting Pricing and Underwriting, responsible for building the analytical capabilities that enable more effective pricing, underwriting, and portfolio management across Fortegra’s Specialty P&C business. This role combines actuarial knowledge, data science, and modern analytical practices to transform complex insurance data into scalable analytical applications, data products, and actionable insights. This position develops the models, data products, and processes that allow Pricing and Underwriting teams to make faster, more informed decisions.

Working closely with Pricing, Underwriting, IT, and business leadership, the Director will identify opportunities to modernize analytical workflows and develop new capabilities that improve risk selection, portfolio management, and pricing accuracy. The role serves as a strategic partner to underwriting leadership, translating business questions into practical analytical solutions while helping establish best practices for advanced analytics across the organization. This role currently has one direct report.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Candidate should have 7+ years of experience in P&C insurance, advanced analytics, actuarial science, data science, or a closely related field.

Skills and Competencies Require

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business challenges into scalable analytics solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience developing analytical solutions on modern data cloud platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Working knowledge of P&C insurance pricing, underwriting, or actuarial concepts, with the ability to develop practical, data-driven solutions to business challenges.
  • Experience designing and maintaining analytical data pipelines and curated datasets.
  • Experience developing interactive dashboards, analytical applications, and data visualizations for business stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices, including source control (Git), code reviews, testing and CI/CD principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining high standards for code quality, validation, and documentation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and manage ambiguity.

Primary Job Functions

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytical solutions that improve pricing, underwriting and portfolio management decisions.
  • Create and maintain curated analytical datasets by transforming data from multiple sources into formats optimized for pricing and underwriting analysis.
  • Develop portfolio analytics, segmentation methodologies, interactive dashboards and applications that provide insight into profitability, growth, risk characteristics, business mix and emerging trends.
  • Partner with Pricing and Underwriting leadership to prioritize initiatives, translate business challenges into analytical solutions, manage project execution, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technology, analytical methods and AI capabilities that create measurable business value.
  • Lead a high-performing Advanced Analytics team by establishing priorities, managing project portfolios, coaching and mentoring team members, and fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$165,000 – $190,000base salary, commensurate with experience.
