Literacy Zone Coordinator
Job Description: Anticipated initial assignment is to be at Orleans and Niagara Counties various sites, NY. The individual will oversee day to day activities across the three Literacy Zone Welcome Centers located in Orleans and Niagara counties. The candidate will identify, establish, and maintain relationships with local community-based organizations, government agencies, non-profits, and human service agencies. The individual will work with principals, guidance counselors, social workers, and parents in the thirteen component districts to provide alternative schooling options to in-school youth who are struggling with traditional school settings and are at risk of dropping out. Previous experience in adult literacy education, excellent communication skills, self-starter, organized, and being personable are desired. A bachelor's degree in education or related field is required. The individual should have or be eligible for certification upon hire. It is anticipated that an individual will qualify for certification with successful completion of fingerprinting and three workshops. Regular attendance and dependability are required. Other responsibilities may be assigned. Assignment is subject to change.
Salary: $35.00 per hour.
