Job Overview
The Quality Technician (Night shift, 10:00pm - 6:30am) is within our Auto/Car Care/Prestone division and is responsible for supporting the Quality Department by performing inspections, tests, and documentation activities to ensure products meet established quality standards and customer requirements. This role works closely with production, engineering, and quality leadership to identify issues, support corrective actions, and maintain compliance with internal procedures and external regulations. This role is located at our Alsip, Illinois facility.
The expected compensation for this position is an hourly rate between $23.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications and is bonus eligible.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform in-process, incoming, and final inspections of materials, components, and finished goods according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Utilize measuring and testing equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMs, visual inspection tools) to verify product conformance.
  • Document inspection results accurately in quality records, inspection reports, and electronic systems.
  • Identify, document, and report nonconforming material, and assist with segregation, containment, and disposition.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities as assigned.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating work instructions, inspection plans, and control plans.
  • Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections as needed.
  • Monitor production processes for compliance with quality requirements and escalate issues when standards are not met.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and scrap reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety rules, and applicable quality standards (e.g., ISO, customer-specific requirements).

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing quality or inspection role (experience level may vary by plant).
  • Knowledge of basic quality tools and inspection methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., data entry, spreadsheets, quality systems).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an ISO-certified or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and basic problem-solving tools.
  • Experience with nonconformance reporting systems and quality databases.
  • Previous exposure to customer or internal audits.

Physical and Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
