SUMMARY
The Assistant Director is responsible for the specific assigned leadership, management, and direction of campus services and supports. Coordination of personnel assignments, academic and service models, fiscal responsibility, community relations, and resources that are essential areas of administration. Works collaboratively with community partners to implement programs and practices for the purpose of student achievement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Works collaboratively with community partners to assist with establishing goals, objectives, and action steps for the purpose of continuous improvement.
  • Assists in communicating expectations, providing support, managing the results, and supporting the day-to-day functions of teams and/or programs assigned.
  • Establishes team and program goals aligned to the District's strategic direction by gathering pertinent information, evaluating trends and options, recommending system improvements, and choosing a course of action.
  • Develops, coordinates, and provides professional development, and reinforces expectations of quality customer service using established customer service standards.
  • Assists with the development, revision, and implementations of department and District policies and procedures.
  • Implements systems of leadership, support, and guidance for school and District personnel.
  • Effectively communicates in writing and verbally with all community partners: District/site leaders, certified, support staff, parents, students, and community.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to campuses and departments to achieve goals and desired outcomes.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
  • Assists in recruiting, selecting, orienting, evaluating, and training personnel.
  • Plans and maintains program and/or team budgets within budgetary parameters.
  • Completes other related duties as assigned by the Director or designee.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Education Administration Leadership or in education support related field.
  • Three (3) years as a classroom teacher experience, or three (3) years job related experience in field.
  • Experience in facilitating employee groups for implementation of initiatives or programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with school personnel and division related laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Possess a current Arizona Administrative Certificate
  • Possess a valid Arizona State Driver's License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Have extensive knowledge of the Phoenix community, the population we serve in PXU, and articulate why they want to serve here.
  • Have a proven track record of coaching and building capacity in others, and articulate specific actions when leading and developing their teams.
  • Be able to articulate a vision of environments in which students and staff feel purpose and success while in pursuit of their goals.
  • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds to build consensus and persevere in a complex system.
  • Exhibit an ability to gather data, both quantitative and qualitative, and utilize the available technology to analyze data, to inform their decisions and actions taken as a community leader.
