Job Title: Senior Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: Plano, TX (Mandatory)

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with a robust background in managing and optimizing enterprise databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong development and automation experience, particularly in infrastructure practices such as Configuration as Code, and demonstrate 8-10 years of hands-on development or technical leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable database solutions (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar).
  • Plan and execute database migrations across environments, including on-premises to AWS cloud (RDS/Aurora), version upgrades, and platform migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Lead database development, optimization, and automation initiatives to support infrastructure as code and modern DevOps practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define database requirements, implement best practices, and ensure data integrity and security.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and tools for database automation, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex database issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in capacity planning, backup and recovery strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Document database architectures, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and compliance.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in database administration and development with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar RDBMS platforms.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) and infrastructure as code frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience with database migration strategies and tools, including schema migrations, data migrations, and cross-platform migrations.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud database services, specifically Amazon RDS and Aurora, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Deep understanding of database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and DevOps methodologies.
  • Solid knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery best practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
