Job description

Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows needs community-driven child care providers for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years in our Early Learning Centers!
At our Reno/Sparks Early Learning Centers, you'll have the opportunity to create a positive work experience, inspired by GREAT values: Generosity, Respect, Encouragement, Accountability, and Trustworthiness. The Early Learning Centers are committed to practicing those values to create places where every child feels safe and connected--a place to belong and a place to become--and a community organization where you can be sure you're making a difference.
You will have the opportunity to focus on children and staff by:
  • providing a safe, nurturing environment using Conscious Discipline while leading your own class of students,
  • and creating curriculum programs and lesson plans consistent with QRIS standards.

You'll get support from a full and engaged admin team, including directors that don't hesitate to roll up their sleeves and change a diaper or to address incidents and behavior with parents.
Applicants with experience caring for children in a work-setting will be given preference, but this position does not require any experience.
In exchange, our centers offer extensive benefits:
  • We offer a clear career path, including to Lead Teacher or Admin roles.
  • We offer free opportunities to get your Child Development Associate (CDA).
  • We offer discounted child care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years and free child care for school-aged children through Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.
  • We offer all employees tuition reimbursement and employee wellness services.
  • We offer all full time employees 100% employer-paid medical, vision, and dental plans. All full time employees also receive complimentary Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance coverage.
  • Most employees are also eligible for a 7% pension plan.
  • Pay ranges from $15 to $16.50 dependent on Nevada Registry placement and childcare experience.

These are some of the additional things you will do as a Teacher with our early learning centers:
  • Care for children, including diapering, toilet training, feeding, and cleaning.
  • Supervise or instruct groups of up to 13 children, depending on age, independently.
  • Prepare supplies and materials for lessons and exercises.
  • Manage student portfolios.
  • Maintain the safety of our children and staff, and ensure an optimal experience for all.

This is what your day could look like as a Teacher with our early learning centers:
  • Your day will be Monday through Friday, 8-5. You will need to work all five days.
  • Our students range from 6 weeks to 5 years and are generally grouped into six age-based classes to which teachers are assigned.

We have great directors and a program quality team that can teach you skills on the job, but there are some actions and goals that will make you more successful as a Teacher with the Early Learning Centers.
  • You know that quality early childcare is necessary for a strong community and are dedicated to early childhood education.
  • You want to bring positivity every day to every staff member, knowing how stressful and challenging child care is.
  • You believe that uniqueness should be celebrated and support including all persons, regardless of background or beliefs.
  • You respect your team and communicate when you are experiencing difficulty meeting responsibilities.
  • Experience with MS Word, and Brightwheel are also preferred.

As part of our commitment to child and member safety, there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete.
  • You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional references, but references from non-family members over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism can be substituted in the absence of work experience.
  • You will also be asked to complete a drug screen (which only includes drugs illegal in the state of Nevada).
  • You will need to be able to pass a childcare background check, which includes an abuse and neglect search.
