Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Fort Lauderdale, FL

Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (Serving IOP & PHP Programs)
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON) or Medical Director

Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing direct patient care and medical support in a mental health and substance abuse treatment facility offering Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Residential services. The LPN collaborates with clinical staff to monitor patient health, administer medications, and ensure compliance with medical protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Medical Support:

  • Administer and monitor medications and treatments as prescribed by medical providers.
  • Conduct vital sign checks, patient assessments, and symptom monitoring.
  • Provide patient education on medication adherence, health conditions, and treatment plans.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Compliance & Safety:

  • Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control protocols.
  • Assist in drug screenings, lab collections, and medication reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits as needed.

Collaboration & Coordination:

  • Work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, and case managers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with referrals and follow-up appointments for medical and psychiatric care.
  • Communicate any changes in patient conditions to medical and clinical teams promptly.

Qualifications:

Education & Licensing:

  • Current and unrestricted LPN license in the state of Florida (required).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained upon hire if not already held).
  • IV Certification (preferred but not required).

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a medical, mental health, or substance abuse setting (preferred).
  • Experience with IOP/PHP/Residential patients is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong patient assessment and clinical documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced behavioral health setting.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Work Environment:

  • Based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with a primary focus on PHP & IOP/Residential patients.
  • May require occasional travel between treatment locations for patient coordination.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing, lifting up to 25 lbs, and assisting patients in clinical settings.
