Position Overview:

The Controller serves as ADG Blatt's technical accounting leader and is responsible for the integrity of the firm's financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal control environment. This position provides strategic oversight of the Accounting Department while partnering with the Chief Executive Officer and Owners to support sound business decisions, financial stewardship, and long-term organizational success.


The Controller establishes accounting standards, strengthens internal controls, mentors the Accounting team, and provides technical guidance that promotes operational excellence, protects the firm's financial resources, and supports continued growth. Essential Functions:

Financial Leadership & Stewardship

  • Lead the firm's technical accounting function and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures that safeguard firm assets and support organizational growth.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial records and reporting.
  • Recommend improvements that strengthen financial governance and operational effectiveness.

Financial Reporting & Internal Controls

  • Direct month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Review financial statements, reconciliations, complex accounting transactions, and supporting schedules prior to executive reporting.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends and risks, and provide recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Promote consistent accounting practices across all projects.
  • Ensure compliance with the firm's Internal Controls Policy, Delegation of Authority, and accounting procedures.
  • Coordinate annual financial reporting, tax preparation, and audit activities with external advisors.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, coach, and develop the financial team.
  • Promote professional development, cross-training, and continuous learning within the Accounting Department.
  • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture that supports accountability and operational excellence.

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Advise the Chief Executive Officer and Owners regarding financial performance, budgeting, forecasting, profitability, cash flow, and organizational risk.
  • Collaborate with the Business Administration Director where accounting, payroll, benefits, insurance, and compliance functions intersect while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Support strategic initiatives through thoughtful financial analysis and recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting principles.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and communicate recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial management software.
  • Experience with Ajera or similar ERP software preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience with progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Previous experience in a professional services firm is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and accounting operations.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, exempt position based in our Oklahoma City Studio. Our standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ADG Blatt recognizes the value of flexibility and offers flexible work hours following an introductory period, based on the responsibilities of the position, project and team needs, and the employee's ability to consistently meet performance and communication expectations. Occasional evening, weekend, or project-related travel may be required based on project needs.
