Key Duties & Responsibilities
If you are seeking a career that has tremendous impact beyond any one individual, then come be a part of our Production Operations (Prod Ops) team and programs supported. We are producing the next generation missiles, harnesses and chassis for Targets, Hypersonic and Mars vehicles.
This position is for a Manufacturing Engineering Associate Manager in Courtland, AL supporting electro/mech structure assembly, integration and test (AI&T) operations on weekend first shift. This position could require some travel and support to other manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading the technical team daily to meet engineering requirements, schedule and cost commitments, and providing production status to leadership.
Other primary responsibilities will include:
• Providing Manufacturing Engineer supervision, employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, and assignment of engineering tasks.
• Technical leading the team for shop floor support, maintaining manufacturing plans, tooling requirements, engineering change implementation and coordinating changes in the build process within an electrical/mechanical manufacturing facility.
• Designing manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
• Designing of machine layout within plant facilities to ensure most efficient production capabilities.
• Creating procedures and operations for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
• Adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
• Inspecting performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigating and initiating corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
• Developing manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
• Providing guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Ensuring processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
• Role will require communication with inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters and will provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
Basic Qualifications:
• Manufacturing experience in assembly, integration, and/or test operations.
• Experience leading a technical team effort in a manufacturing factory environment.
• Ability to work the weekend shift (Thursday - Sunday)
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance. Interim Secret clearance required prior to start.
Desired Skills:
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Formal or informal leadership experience.
• Experience presenting to senior government and/or Lockheed Martin leaders.
• Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space Systems or industry equivalent processes (Earn Value Management Systems, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Work Instructions, Routings, Production Orders, Bill of Materials, Qnotes, FFMEAs, FOE/FOD, etc.).
• Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space Systems or industry equivalent tools (ERP/SAP, EPDM, VECAMS, PMP Database, etc.)
• Lean Manufacturing experience and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certifications.
• Experience with Electro Static Discharge (ESD) and Ordnance Missile Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) operations.
• Proven Leadership and Management of Aerospace and Manufacturing products.
• Proven communication skills between Program, Engineering and Manufacturing.
• Proven production in flow troubleshooting skills.
• Basic tooling, fixture and equipment design experience.
• Basic knowledge of Additive Manufacturing CAD/CAM and 3D Printing.
• Ability to work independently with little to no direction.
