Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Sr to support the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) program Production Operations in Huntsville, Alabama.
In this role, you will support electrical and mechanical structure assembly, integration, and test operations, working closely with engineering, production, quality and leadership teams. You'll play a key role in translating engineering designs into efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes that meet cost, schedule and quality commitments.
The successful candidate will have experience writing detailed manufacturing work instructions, technical publications or SOPs. Typical experience required for this position includes a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience/combined education. Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance.
This position could require some travel and support to other manufacturing operations.
Other primary responsibilities will include:
• Assists in leading and adhering to safety, quality, cost, schedule, technical and programmatic requirements and performance expectations.
• Leading and providing shop floor support, maintaining manufacturing plans, tooling requirements, engineering change implementation and coordinating changes in the build process within an electrical/mechanical manufacturing facility.
• Creating procedures and operations for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
• Adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
• Providing guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Role will require infrequent communication with inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters and will provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Experience working in manufacturing, production or quality environment.
• Experience writing, reviewing or maintaining manufacturing work instructions or similar production documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and/or electrical drawings, schematics and specifications.
• Ability to work week day shift on site at Huntsville, supporting a 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off)
• Experience collaborating with a multi-functional team either through coursework, work experience or similar.
• Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

• Requires the ability to obtain and maintain an Interim SECRET clearance prior to start.
• Experience presenting to senior government and/or leaders.
• Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space Systems or industry equivalent processes (Earn Value Management Systems, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Work Instructions, Routings, Production Orders, Bill of Materials, Q-notes, FFMEAs, FOE/FOD, etc.)
• Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space Systems or industry equivalent tools (ERP/SAP, EPDM, VECAMS, PMP Database, etc.)
• Lean Manufacturing experience and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certifications.
• Experience with Electro Static Discharge (ESD) and Ordnance Missile Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) operations.
• Proven Leadership and Management of Aerospace and Manufacturing products.
• Proven communication skills between Program, Engineering and Manufacturing.
• Proven production in flow troubleshooting skills.
• Basic tooling, fixture and equipment design experience.
• Basic knowledge of Additive Manufacturing CAD/CAM and 3D Printing.
• Must have the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Experience writing detailed manufacturing work instructions, technical writing or similar experience with technical publications or SOPs.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, bills of material, schematics and specs.
