CASE MANAGER/ SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR 
JOB DESCRIPTION: 
The Case Manager/Substance abuse counselor is responsible for providing confidential addictions counseling, education, and support to individuals, families, and the community, and for promoting healthy lifestyle and healthy choices. This may include confidential: individual, family or group counseling about the causes and effects bf addictions support for families dealing with addictions and/or referrals. 
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE SPECIALIST: 
Must hold a current Certification from one of the substance abuse governing boards in the state of California or United States. Must have one year or more experience in the profession of addiction counseling. Must comply with the all ethical codes and scope of practice codes within this profession. Must have current professional liability insurance with limits of not less than $1,000,000 for each incident and $3,000,000 in the aggregate to cover such liability as the "Facility" may incur arising directly out of the training activities of counseling. Be culturally sensitive and committed to openly discussing the influence of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and class on the counseling process. Certification included in qualifications in First Aid and CPR documented current status.  or As well as have a current TB clearance or the ability to obtain one prior to employment. Must have at least two years of sobriety. Must also be familiar with and actively working the 12 Steps, and the culture/community with an understanding of addiction as a disease; hold basic computer/technology, writing and communication skills along with an understanding of the English language. Be efficient in all case management/substance abuse duties and knowledge of the core functions. Must hold a valid California driving licenses and proof of insurance 
SAMPLES OF DUTIES:

 1. Provide counseling to individuals regarding the use and effects of alcohol and drugs
2. Provide group counseling, as requested
3. Accept referrals from individuals, families, and agencies in the community
4. Maintain strict confidentiality  guidelines regarding all clients, conversations and referrals
5. Ensure legislation, standards, and guidelines are being followed
6. Provide community education and support program , as requested
7. Distribute relevant information, as requested
8. Assists clients to meet all requirements and complete all assignments
9. Keeping all chart notes and filing current
10. Serve as a mentor and positive role model for the clients
11. Assist client's with UA's, and searching of property when necessary
