Job description

Acuity is seeking a Security Specialist to assist in creating, implementing, and maintaining security and emergency response procedures and systems for the Acuity Corporate Headquarters and Business Resumption Center campuses. This role works collaboratively with a team to establish and maintain a strong security presence across campus, helping to safeguard employees, visitors, facilities, and operations while supporting preparedness and response efforts for a variety of security and emergency situations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides a security presence on campus.
  • Completes security inspections of Corporate Headquarters daily. Completes additional inspections of buildings and grounds as situations dictate. Questions unauthorized persons. Reports and logs all encounters or unusual conditions found.
  • Responds to Unauthorized Guest alarms. Works with the Administration and area management teams to respond to alarms in their areas.
  • Assists with the creation, implementation, enforcement, and update of formal security procedures. Creates instructional videos and newsletter articles pertaining to security topics.
  • Assists with monthly testing and on-going maintenance on a multitude of door access points and cameras on the Genetec security network. Must complete two Genetec Security Center Technical Certifications.
  • Maintains door access system times and schedules. Issues/modifies building access cards for employees and vendors. Completes background checks for all vendors prior to issuing access. Audits access attempts for select access points and vendors quarterly.
  • Coordinates pickup and confidential destruction of recycle paper with service provider and Building Maintenance Specialists. Audits service contractor process annually.
  • Issues building keys as authorized. Maintains authorization paperwork and Log of Issued Keys. Conducts annual key audit.
  • Coordinates training, supplies, and periodic meetings for the internal emergency response team.
  • Coordinates the annual tornado, fire alarm and intruder drills at Corporate Headquarters. Reviews procedures annually.
  • Maintains AED units. Completes inventory, orders and stocks First Aid supplies accessible to all employees.
  • Updates electronic SDS documentation for products use internally and by onsite contractors in compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Coordinates special event and holiday security.
  • Acts as liaison with emergency services agencies.
  • Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls regarding building and security concerns on a 24 x 7 basis. Assists with employee terminations.
  • Assists with space set ups for various company and community events. Works community events off hours.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. First Aid, CPR and AED certification required.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in security, emergency response or law enforcement roles helpful. Prior experience implementing and maintaining robust physical security / notification systems preferred. Must be able to legally possess a firearm, be willing to carry it in the course of employment, and maintain skills/accuracy with dedicated range time.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong organizational, teamwork, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of management, employees and service providers.
  • High degree of skill in analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Strong administrative/computer skills. Ability to create and maintain Word and Excel documents.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure, set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Confidentiality.
  • Near perfect attendance and schedule flexibility to meet the ongoing demands of a dynamic environment/facility. Shifts to be worked between 3:00 pm and 11:00 pm.
  • Valid driver license.
