Become the Monster. Create the Nightmare. Own the Night.

Scaregrounds PDX is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and creative performers to join our cast of Scare Actors for the 2026 Halloween season at Oaks Amusement Park.

Whether you're an experienced haunter, actor, improviser, cosplayer, or simply someone who loves Halloween, this is your chance to become part of one of the Pacific Northwest's premier haunted attractions. No professional acting experience is required—just a great attitude, a willingness to learn, and a passion for entertaining guests.

As a Scare Actor, you'll help create unforgettable memories by delivering immersive performances that thrill, surprise, and delight thousands of guests throughout the Halloween season.

Position Overview

Scare Actors portray monsters, creatures, and characters throughout our haunted attractions and midway entertainment areas. Working alongside a talented production team, you'll bring detailed environments to life through physical performance, improvisation, and guest interaction while maintaining a safe and engaging experience.

  • Stay in character while interacting with guests
  • Use movement, body language, voice, and timing to create memorable scares
  • Learn and perform designated scare techniques and performance cues
  • Adapt performances to changing guest flow and audience reactions
  • Work collaboratively with fellow performers to create an immersive experience

  • Help maintain the atmosphere and story of your attraction
  • Remain professional and respectful while delivering scares
  • Follow all guest safety and interaction guidelines

Safety

  • Follow all safety procedures and emergency protocols
  • Stay aware of your surroundings while performing
  • Immediately report hazards or incidents to your Attraction Manager
  • Help ensure a safe environment for guests and fellow cast members

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old (performers under 18 may require parental consent)
  • Able to perform for extended periods while standing, walking, crouching, or moving through themed environments
  • Comfortable working in dark, loud, and theatrical settings
  • Reliable transportation to Oaks Amusement Park
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Dependable attendance throughout the season

Experience Preferred (but Not Required)

  • Acting or theater
  • Haunted attractions
  • Improv or comedy
  • Dance or movement performance
  • Theme park entertainment
  • Cosplay or character performance
  • Customer service or public interaction

No experience? No problem! We provide training, rehearsals, and performance coaching before opening night.

Schedule

Seasonal evening and weekend position. Cast members are expected to attend rehearsals prior to opening and work scheduled shifts throughout the Halloween season, including weekends and peak event nights.

Compensation
