Job description

1. JOB PURPOSE:

As a lead member of Fix Auto’s production team, the Assistant Production Manager plays a key role in ensuring the auto body process is seamless, and the production team is supported in their roles.  


2. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Production Manager is responsible to support the oversight of production flow and the production team. The Assistant Production Manager acts as the coordinator between the back end and front end departments to oversee production flow and the overall operations of the business. The Assistant Production Manager will have strong attention to detail skills to ensure quality of all products, and have the ability to creatively strategize new initiatives for the team. 


Fitting in with our positive and fast paced work environment, the Assistant Production Manager must be highly organized, able to think outside of the box, prioritize ever changing tasks, communicate clearly and timely, and most importantly, foster an environment for growth and success. Being able to handle stress in a calm manner, proactively finding solutions rather than acting in a reactive state, and coach employees through challenges is crucial.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership Support

  • Support with leadership to all production departments
  • Effectively communicate tasks and timelines to all members of the production team
  • Coordinate with peers to troubleshoot challenges and find solutions for delays in the production process
  • Encourage growth, strong communication, and quality
  • Host production meetings and reward employees for successes

General Duties

  • Manage production team to achieve cycle time targets respecting parts management and customer/insurance partner expectations (i.e. cycle time, touch time, and length of rental).
  • Coordinate all sublets to ensure production flow is managed and timely
  • Ensure quality and safety standards are being met and followed at all times
  • Monitor repair orders to maximize efficiency and gross profits
  • Oversee damage report, repair orders and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
  • Monitor parts and material usage
  • Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts and supplies
  • Accurate completion of work orders and quality control sheets
  • Act as support and backfill for all repair planner duties 

Continuous Improvement

  • Work with management to encourage growth and development of team members through internal and external training partners
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new technology and process improvements to implement
  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to OH&S Standards
  • Support ownership in organizational growth and continuous improvement

4. WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Employees may be required to work in potentially hazardous environments requiring personal protective equipment
  • Employees may be exposed to dust, hazardous chemicals and high levels of noise
  • Employees may be exposed to uncomfortable work settings; may have long combinations of standing, crouching, or sitting
  • Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced environment
  • Overtime as required

Post Secondary focusing on Business



EXPERIENCE

3-5 years experience in the autobody industry



Leadership experience in a similar role



SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

Strong written and verbal communication skills



Customer service and professionalism skills



Highly knowledge of the autobody industry and vehicle damage



Ability to lead a team of multiple personalities



Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
