Interpretation Location: Text NYCACS2 to (703) 570-8332 to apply by phone Job Title: Onsite Interpreter โ€“ New York City Administration for Childrenโ€™s Services (NYC-ACS) Languages: Various Work Location: New York City โ€“ various ACS locations across the five (5) boroughs. Occasional assignments may be in Westchester and Nassau counties as required. Work Schedule: Varies based on business needs. Must be prepared to work a minimum of 1 hour AND up to 20-30 hours per week at a designated ACS facility. The total number of work hours in a given day or week cannot be determined ahead of time. It is entirely dependent on customer need and could change frequently. You must be prepared to work on-site between 1 to 30 hours per week. Pay Range: $35hr Position Summary: LIS Solutions, a leader in Government language, intelligence, and security support services, is seeking interpreters to support The New York City Administration for Childrenโ€™s Services (ACS). Support will consist of primarily on-site interpretation at ACS locations across the five (5) New York City boroughs with the possibility for some remote video interpretation. Interpreters will work with ACS staff and contracted providers in assisting children and families with required services. Key Skillsets/Qualifications: * Fluency in speaking and reading of target language and English. * Minimum one (1) year of interpretation experience in related subject matters to include but not limited to โ€“ child welfare, social services, community organizing, medical terminology. * Must reside within commutable distance to customer location sites across the five (5) New York City boroughs. * Must be willing to travel to customer site locations as schedule requires. Although there may be some remote support via online meetings, this is not a remote position. * Must be 18 years of age or older and have U.S work authorization. * Provide document translation of location-based information โ€“ i.e. street names, addresses, schools, parks, clinics. ACS glossary will be provided. * Must have reliable internet service and technical capability to provide video interpretation via online platforms โ€“ i.e. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp when on-site support is not an option. Preferred Qualifications: * Interpretation experience in criminal justice and/or legal settings. * Certified Interpreter by a recognized professional association for legal and medical specializations. These include, but not limited to: American Translators Association, Federal Court System, NY State Unified Court System, NCIHC, IMIA. Additional Requirements for Employment: * Must complete a minimum of two (2) hours of child welfare training provided by ACS to support this effort. * May be required to complete an online language test in Interpretation/Translation of target languageEnglish. * Must be willing to undergo a Criminal background check.
