The YMCA of the Fox Cities is hiring a Finance Director with a track record of supervising teams and preparing financial statements, ready to advance into a higher-impact leadership role. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
In this role, you'll join a dedicated team and supervise individuals responsible for preparing accurate monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

As our chief accountant, you will assist the VP of Finance in managing all financial accounting, internal controls, and budgeting operations to ensure the fiscal health and stability of one of the largest nonprofits in northeastern Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high performing staff.
  • Review and evaluate staff performance for four positions within the team covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close activities and schedules to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely completion of deliverables.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and other financial transactions while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Review internal financial statements for accuracy and readiness for final presentation.
  • Support the annual independent audit and 990 preparation by coordinating requests, preparing documentation, and facilitating information gathering.
