About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to own the end-to-end accounts payable function. Despite the title, this is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. The ideal Accounts Payable Manager will bring a big-picture perspective, understanding the entire AP lifecycle from invoice receipt through payment while identifying opportunities for process improvements and stronger controls.

Responsibilities for the Accounts Payable Manager Role:

  • Own the full-cycle accounts payable process, including vendor setup, invoice processing, approvals, and payments.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries related to expense accruals and support the month-end close process.
  • Serve as the primary owner of account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of AP-related balances.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize invoice automation software while partnering with accounting leadership on process improvement initiatives.
  • Manage high-volume invoice processing in a fast-paced distribution environment while maintaining accuracy and strong internal controls.

Qualifications for the Accounts Payable Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounts payable experience, including ownership of the full AP cycle.
  • Strong account reconciliation, accrual, and month-end close experience.
  • Experience working in a high-volume environment with the ability to see both the details and the bigger picture.
