As an Accounting Intern, you will support the day-to-day work of the Accounting & Finance team through hands-on involvement in accounts payable, travel and expense processes, month-end close support, reconciliations, documentation, and data-driven activities. In this role, you'll help maintain timely and accurate financial records, strengthen standard operating procedures, and support compliance with company policies and accounting standards while gaining practical accounting experience in a collaborative team environment.

What you'll do

  • Get hands-on experience supporting real accounting operations, including invoice processing, payment preparation, and expense review.
  • Help keep financial records organized and accurate by assisting with vendor files, documentation, and accounting support tasks.
  • Learn how travel and expense transactions are reviewed and reconciled in NetSuite and other business systems.
  • Contribute to month-end close by helping prepare schedules, gather documentation, and support reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
  • Assist with data accuracy and system cleanup projects by reviewing records for missing details, duplicates, and coding inconsistencies.
  • Support the team with audit, tax, reporting, and compliance-related requests while learning how accounting functions in a professional environment.
  • Work closely with accounting team members and cross-functional partners to gather information, solve routine issues, and keep work moving forward.
  • Build professional experience by managing assigned tasks, meeting deadlines, and handling confidential financial information with care.

What we're looking for

  • You’re currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • You have a foundational understanding of accounting concepts through coursework or academic experience; exposure to accounts payable or general ledger concepts is a plus.
  • You’re detail-oriented, organized, and take pride in producing accurate work.
  • You’re comfortable handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • You have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools, and you’re excited to learn new systems and technologies.
  • You communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions, and can follow through on tasks in a professional setting.
  • You’re able to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with accounting systems is helpful, but not required—we’re looking for someone eager to learn.

Why CivicPlus

  • Gain hands-on accounting experience supporting real business processes, including accounts payable, expense review, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Build practical skills with financial systems, documentation, and data integrity work in a professional accounting environment.
  • Work alongside experienced accounting leaders and team members who can provide exposure, guidance, and day-to-day learning opportunities.
  • Make an immediate impact by helping maintain accurate financial records and supporting the processes that keep the business running smoothly.

Compensation

  • Estimated Hourly Compensation: $20.00
  • The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
