Job description

JOB OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this position is to provide support for our elderly residents by managing their financial accounts and assisting them as they conduct their financial matters in our small nursing home. This position ensures accurate Medicaid and Private Pay billing, timely payments and adherence to financial policies and guidelines. Coordinates with representatives from social services, nursing administration, and other administrative support personnel to ensure residentโ€™s financial matters are kept accurate, current, and secure.
MISSION
The Resident Accounts Coordinator will carry out the above duties in keeping with the mission of Little Sisters of the Poor, namely the caring for the aged poor with love, respect and dignity. โ€œMaking the elderly happy, that is what countsโ€ was a saying of Saint Jeanne Jugan, foundress of the Little Sisters of the Poor. Central to this philosophy is the promotion of the psychological, emotional, spiritual and social well-being of our Residents in an atmosphere of kindness and faith.
JOB STANDARDS:
The Resident Accounts Coordinator must:
BE PROFICIENT IN DC MEDICAID BILLING
  • Possess of a two-year college degree with a concentration in accounting, business, or social work is highly preferred. A High School Degree complimented by coursework/credentials in bookkeeping, accounting, business or other relevant training is an acceptable alternative to a college degree;
  • Five years of recent, successful experience gained while working in a similar capacity/professional office environment. Successful experience should include significant and recent experience with accounts receivable and familiarity with Medicaid billing.
  • Ability to meet residents and family members with ease; to communicate the written and spoken word with tact, diplomacy, and gentleness. (This position has frequent contact with our residents, family members, Home administration, fellow employees, and service providers);
  • Strong organizational ability coupled with the ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure;
  • Solid computer skills are essential (Microsoft Word, Excel, the Internet and email). Familiarity with spreadsheets and databases; Previous experience with commonly encountered software (Point Click Care and National Data Care RFMS) is desired;
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions listed below with or without reasonable accommodation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Resident Accounts Coordinator will:
  • Review Admission packets for financial eligibility, patient responsibility and rent calculations.
  • Manage Resident Income and allowance amounts. Ensure Residents stay within asset levels for Medicaid eligibility.
  • Receives, sort, prepare and elicit endorsing signatures from residents on income checks and direct deposit forms;
  • Deposits resident funds in financial institutions, make withdraws as necessary to correspond with billing. Reconcile resident trust funds and allowance accounts through RFMS;
  • Maintains resident allowance accounts by withdrawing or adjusting per residentโ€™s wishes. Oversee Trust Fund operations;
  • Posts resident personal expenses to RFMS and balance the accounts;
  • Posts monthly interest earned to individual residents savings accounts and ensure yearly updates are made;
  • Complete DC Medicaid billing and review for accuracy and rebilling when necessary.
  • Process all private pay facility billing for Nursing, Assisted Living and Apartment Residents.
  • Complete cash receipt entry and posting.
  • Monitor the Accounts Receivable Aging for all collections.
  • Serves as the backup person for the Home with regard to Medicaid redeterminations.
  • Assists in the calculation of annual rent adjustments for apartment and assisted living residents.
  • Performs mail-distribution into resident mailboxes as needed;
  • Performs various clerical duties under the direction of the Administrator;
  • Shares the duties as alternate front desk receptionist with other designated administrative personnel.
Mandatory credit and criminal background check.
Weekly hours: Monday to Friday
10AM-3:30PM
Holidays Observed: New Year's, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day
