What Are Accounting Jobs?

Accounting jobs constitute any role in which you prepare taxes, financial statements, and other official documentation related to financial reporting. As an accountant, you are responsible for ensuring that all records contain accurate information and that you make all tax and other payments in a timely fashion. While many accountants specialize in personal finance, you may be asked to audit a company’s financial records to ensure that the business is running smoothly and efficiently. If you find issues, you report your findings and make recommendations for how to improve company or organizational efficiency. You can also work in financial forensics and search for financial malfeasances, such as tax fraud or embezzlement.

What is the difference between Accounting vs Bookkeeping?

AspectAccountingBookkeeping

Accounting involves analyzing, interpreting, and reporting financial data, often requiring certifications and higher education. Bookkeeping focuses on recording transactions and maintaining accurate ledgers. While both roles are essential for financial management, accounting provides a broader scope of financial analysis and compliance, whereas bookkeeping is the foundation of accurate financial record-keeping.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Accounting, and why are they important?

To thrive in Accounting, you need a thorough understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and strong analytical skills, typically supported by a degree in accounting or finance. Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle, and certifications like CPA are commonly required. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and integrity are crucial soft skills for ensuring accuracy and ethical financial reporting. These skills and qualities are vital for maintaining compliance, supporting business decisions, and safeguarding the financial health of organizations.

What is accounting?

Accounting is the process of recording, summarizing, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions for a business or individual. It helps organizations track their income and expenses, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and provide stakeholders with accurate financial information. Accountants use standardized methods and principles to prepare financial statements, manage budgets, and assist with tax planning. Good accounting practices are essential for making informed business decisions and maintaining financial health.

What are some common challenges accountants face during month-end and year-end closing periods?

Month-end and year-end closing periods can be particularly demanding for accountants due to tight deadlines, high volumes of transactions, and the need for absolute accuracy. During these times, accountants often work closely with other departments to ensure all financial data is complete and reconciled, which may require extended hours and strong organizational skills. Clear communication and effective time management are essential to manage these challenges and maintain the integrity of financial reporting.

Who We Are.
At Framebrand, we help franchisors grow emerging brands into high-performing franchise networks, and we do it by building strong foundations that last. We bring together people, platforms, and processes to support scalable growth, while staying grounded in values that guide how we work every day.
Our team powers the ASCEND process, aligning the critical elements of franchise success, from territory planning and lead generation to sales, service, and ongoing support. Behind the scenes, our team plays a vital role in shaping what’s next. We collaborate across disciplines, anticipate challenges, and deliver solutions that turn strategy into execution. At Framebrand, your work directly impacts franchise owners, their teams, and the future of the brands we support.
Your Role.
We’re looking for an Accounting Manager to take ownership of our core accounting function during a high-growth phase. This role will lead general ledger accounting and reporting across multiple entities, as well as oversee franchisee-related financial activity for one of the franchisor brands we support.
This is a hands-on role in a startup environment, someone who is comfortable building structure where it doesn’t yet exist and improving processes as we go. You’ll be a key partner in shaping how accounting supports both our franchisor business and our franchise network.
What You’ll Own in This Role.
  • General Ledger amp; Accounting Close Process
  • Lead the monthly close process end-to-end (journal entries, reconciliations, review)
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across entities
  • Establish and refine close timelines, checklists, and standards as we scale
  • Manage accounting across multiple legal entities and related intercompany activities
  • Create and document workflows and processes as necessary, implementing automation and systems for scale.
Financial amp; Tax Reporting
  • Prepare monthly financials for the franchisor entity, and other related entities
  • Maintain audit-ready financials and supporting documentation
  • Support external accountants, tax preparers, and future audit processes
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP as appropriate
Franchise Accounting amp; Cash Flow Management
  • Own accounting for franchisee-related transactions, including receipts, pass-through funds, and liabilities
  • Maintain clear visibility into what is due to/due from franchisees by location
  • Oversee the process for franchisee statements and payouts
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure alignment between sales, operations and accounting
***This job description does not contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the position. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time due to organizational needs.
Qualifications/Knowledge:
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in accounting or finance
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting or finance field
  • Experience owning or heavily contributing to the close process
  • Experience with QuickBooks (or similar systems)
  • Experience in a franchise or multi-location business model
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders at all levels across the organization to effectively manage initiatives
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, (emphasis on Excel) and other relevant computer applications
  • Understand and uphold the policies and procedures established by Framebrand
  • Must be able to pass a background check including Motor Vehicle Report
  • Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
What’s in it For You?
  • Competitive base pay, quarterly bonus plan, and long-term incentive plan
  • Medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA options, and employee assistance program covering employee and eligible dependents

  • 401k
  • Paid Time Off and Holidays
  • Career development assistance
  • Special recognition for employee birthdays and anniversaries
  • Company-hosted celebrations
The Office Environment:
As part of the company, you can expect to work in a standard office setting where there is a positive team atmosphere.
