Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Construction Accounting Assistant to support our accounting and project management teams. The ideal candidate will assist with accounts payable and receivable, job cost tracking, payroll support, subcontractor compliance, and other accounting functions specific to the construction industry. This position requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable invoices and vendor payments.
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices and monitor accounts receivable.
  • Assist with job costing, project budgets, and cost tracking.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts.
  • Support payroll processing, including certified payroll when applicable.
  • Maintain subcontractor documentation, including insurance certificates, W-9s, and lien waivers.
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting and project cost analysis.
  • Enter and maintain accounting data in accounting software.
  • Organize and maintain financial records and project files.
  • Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, project managers, and clients regarding accounting matters.
  • Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing and subcontractor payments.
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with certified payroll.
  • Familiarity with AIA billing and progress billing.
  • Understanding of construction contracts, change orders, and retainage.
