Job description

Aescape is a New York-based physical AI and robotics company redefining human recovery through intelligent, precision bodywork, elevating it into a consistent, outcomes-driven practice.
Powered by real-time body mapping, advanced robotics, and proprietary software, Aescape delivers deeply personalized bodywork that continuously adapts to the individual. This creates a superior way for members to move with greater ease, recover more efficiently, and optimize how they feel every single day.
Aescape is building a defining brand for recovery, shifting behavior from a sporadic experience into a progressive, measurable routine, unlocking compounding benefits that build lasting resilience and laying the groundwork for an entirely new category of proactive human health and performance.
Aescape powers recovery across leading fitness, hospitality, and wellness environments, including Equinox, Life Time, Marriott, Hilton, Four Seasons, Pause Studios, and Remedy Place, and is backed by Valor Equity Partners, BroadLight Capital, and Mecha Ventures.
Aescape is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our day-to-day accounting function and partner closely with our Operations/Supply Chain, and Revenue Operations teams. This role will initially report to the SVP of Operations and is expected to transition reporting to the CFO once that position is filled.
This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, leading the monthly close and financial reporting processes, strengthening internal controls, and building scalable accounting processes to support the company's growth. The role will also partner closely with Operations/Supply Chain on inventory accounting, COGS, landed costs, manufacturing costs, and variances, and other financial aspects of our hardware business. The role will also collaborate closely with Revenue Operations on accounts receivable, customer billing, collections, revenue recognition, and related order-to-cash processes.
The Accounting Manager will work closely with and leverage support from the company's third-party accounting firm for accounting operations, technical accounting, financial reporting, tax, audit support, and other areas as appropriate.
This is a hands-on role well suited to someone who is highly responsive, operates with a sense of urgency, and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. The ideal candidate can work independently, build and continuously improve processes, and balance strong accounting fundamentals with practical realities of a growing physical product, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The title of Accounting Manager will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
This role is hybrid, based out of our NYC office in Chelsea.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
  • Partner closely with the SVP of Operations and the broader Operations/Supply Chain team on inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), landed cost calculations, standard costing, and manufacturing variance analysis specific to hardware products
  • Partner closely with Revenue Operations on accounts receivable, customer billing, collections, credit and payment terms, and other order-to-cash processes
  • Own accounts payable, including vendor management and relationship oversight
  • Support accounts receivable efforts, including AR aging reports and collection metrics
  • Apply and maintain appropriate revenue recognition policies in accordance with ASC 606 revenue recognition principles, including reviewing customer arrangements
  • Research, document, and implement appropriate accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions, including revenue recognition, inventory, leases, fixed assets, and other technical accounting matters as applicable
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, close processes, and procedures in accordance with GAAP
  • Identify and implement opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and emerging technologies to streamline accounting processes, improve accuracy and efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance financial reporting and analysis
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization policy, depreciation schedules, and hardware/equipment tracking
  • Support cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and budget-to-actual variance analysis
  • Support the annual audit and tax preparation process, coordinating directly with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax, use tax, and other applicable filings relevant to hardware sales and multi-state operations, with the support from the third-party tax service providers
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff as the team grows
  • Partner with the SVP of Operations and executive leadership on ad hoc financial analysis and special projects, and ultimately serve as a key partner to the CFO once hired

  • Prior experience at a startup or growth-stage company is a plus
