Clayton Services is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join a well-established and growing company in Houston. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to develop people, improve processes, and collaborate across an organization.


The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, lead the month-end close process, manage and develop accounting team members, and help strengthen the company's accounting processes and systems. This position offers significant visibility within the organization and an opportunity to take on increasing leadership responsibility as the company continues to grow.


Job Type: Direct Hire

Pay Rate: $120,000 - $140,000 plus annual discretionary bonus potential

Accounting Manager Responsibilities:


  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  • Own the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
  • Oversee and develop accounting team members while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continued professional growth.
  • Support accounting activities across multiple business units and legal entities.
  • Review existing accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and provide meaningful financial information to company leadership.
  • Partner with operational departments to resolve accounting issues and improve cross-functional processes.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and other accounting and finance initiatives.
  • Support external audit, tax preparation, regulatory reporting, and compliance activities.
  • Participate in ERP optimization, process automation, and financial systems improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal departments, leadership, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with special projects and additional accounting initiatives as the organization continues to grow.

Accounting Manager Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA or Master's degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience required.
  • Previous experience managing or leading accounting professionals required.
  • Strong hands-on experience with general accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting required.
  • Experience supporting multiple entities, business units, or locations preferred.
  • Experience with a major ERP system strongly preferred.
  • Experience improving accounting processes, systems, and internal controls preferred.
  • Combination of public accounting and corporate accounting experience is a plus.
