Scarlet Security & Risk Group (SSRG) is looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our team in Calgary.

The Accounting Specialist supports SSRG's operations across Canada by providing accurate, timely and confidential financial, payroll, benefits, accounts payable, accounts receivable and administrative accounting support. This position plays an important role in maintaining reliable financial records, supporting operational leaders, assisting with employee and vendor inquiries, and contributing to efficient business processes across a fast-paced, multi-site security environment.

The Accounting Specialist is expected to apply strong attention to detail, sound judgment, clear communication, and a practical understanding of confidentiality, documentation, compliance and service quality expectations within the security industry. In keeping with SSRG's standards, this role supports accurate reporting, careful follow-through, continuous improvement and professional internal service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and issue billing for multiple entities.
  • Track past due accounts, address payment issues, collections, and document all communications for multiple entities.
  • Assist in the creation and recording of invoices and payments in accounting system.
  • Communicate with the Director of Operations to resolve any invoice discrepancies.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile credit card statements and input receipts into accounting system.
  • Administer and track employee eligibility for benefit plans.
  • Distribute benefit application packages and address employee queries related to benefits.
  • Liaise with the Benefit Plan contact to resolve any issues or changes.
  • Provide backup support to the Admin and Operations Specialist as required.
  • Input supplier invoices into accounting system and ensure accurate recording.
  • Prepare weekly accounts payable reports for the Controller.
  • Coordinate payroll changes, including benefit plan updates, with the payroll provider (Dayforce).
  • Participate in the coordination of special projects, such as Requests for Proposals (RFPs), as needed.
  • Maintain and promote International Organization for Standardization (ISO) SSRG service quality standards.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficient in MS Office and NetSuite Accounting software.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly ethical and able to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of financial processes.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work environment. Minimum three (3) days per week in the office.
  • Candidates must live in the Calgary area and may periodically be required to attend additional in-person meetings at an SSRG office.
