Job description

We're seeking a detail-oriented and analytical academic Accounting Intern to support our Medicaid billing team. This internship will provide hands-on experience in accounting principles, Medicaid regulations, and billing procedures. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field and have a strong interest in healthcare accounting.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and submitting Medicaid claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Review and analyze Medicaid billing data, identifying trends and areas for improvement
- Support the reconciliation of Medicaid accounts, resolving discrepancies and ensuring accurate financial reporting
- Collaborate with the billing team to implement process improvements and enhance efficiency
- Develop and maintain documentation of Medicaid billing procedures and policies
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on billing and accounting topics

Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in accounting or a related field
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements
- Familiarity with Medicaid regulations and billing procedures (or willingness to learn)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
