Location: Orange County, CA
Compensation: $90,000–$120,000

NOW CFO, established in 2005, is a hands-on, full-service consulting firm focused on outsourced CFO, Controller, and accounting support. Our team is made up of experienced professionals who step in to solve complex accounting and finance challenges for a variety of clients.

Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager to join our Orange County team. In this role, you will support and manage accounting functions across multiple client engagements, working closely with leadership to ensure accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory, and revenue recognition
  • Support and manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Standardize accounting systems, records, and reporting processes across engagements
  • Perform internal reviews and financial analysis to assess accuracy and performance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a point of contact for external auditors and support audit processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (MBA or advanced degree a plus)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in an accounting manager or similar role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices
  • Public accounting background preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) required; experience with multiple ERP systems is a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of an organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a client-facing environment
