One of the most beloved resorts in New England, The Woodstock Inn & Resort, is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join the team.

Job Summary:

The Senior Staff Accountant will maintain accurate financial records, perform monthly closings and reconcile accounts while working within established company guidelines. Perform other accounting duties as assigned while working closely with the accounting team and resort staff from all areas of the resort including rooms, food & beverage, events, recreation outlets, spa and more.

Job Specifications:

  • Expected Salary Range: Starting $65,000
    • The pay scale shown is the range that we reasonably expect to pay. Actual compensation offered may be adjusted based on a candidate’s qualifications and/or experience.

Shift & Schedule Availability: Full-time year-round

  • Schedule is primarily Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30
  • Additional hours as needed based on workflow
  • Weekends occasionally when necessary

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of the corporation’s annual operating and capital budgets
  • Assist in preparation of tax returns, financial statements, forecasts, budgets, profit and loss statements, and compliance reports for the business
  • Understand and maintain resort software systems integration for accounting requirements
  • Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions and departmental results in relation to established goals.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintain capital and work in progress records.
  • Maintain lease records.
  • Reconciliation of bank statements and general ledger
  • Participate in the day-to-day operations of accounting and support other roles as needed
  • Perform internal audits
  • Provide payroll support

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of accounting with 3 years of experience
  • Understanding of tax laws and Vermont state taxes
  • Experience with ADP payroll
  • Understanding of accounting controls and their function
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with ADP or similar payroll processing software
  • Ability to keep accurate, thorough and organized records
  • Working knowledge of software systems and accounting systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals and take initiative to resolve problems
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions
  • Must work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
