Job description

Responsible for preparation of community financial statements as well as oversight of billing, accounts payable, and payroll. Emphasis on analysis and providing timely information to Executive Directors (ED)/Administrators and DOMs regarding financial health of the community. Provides training to community staff. Manages and prioritizes own workload to ensure delivery of appropriate client services by due date.

What You'll Do: 

  • Direct all aspects of accounting functions of assigned community during interim period of Accounting Director vacancy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial statements.
  • Complete all balance sheet reconciliations, in line with LCS standards in BlackLine.
  • Participate in audit planning, prepare audit schedules, and respond to auditor questions and recommendations.
  • Prepare financial information for statutory or regulatory filings and monitor compliance to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and support for on-site accounting staff.
  • Respond to requests from the community's accounting staff on using the accounting systems, resolving balancing problems, assistance in catching up backlog and maintaining appropriate accounting controls and procedures.
  • Provide support for the ED/Administrator in overseeing the community's accounting functions.
  • Monitor the A/R Aging report monthly for balances over 90 days old; work with the community to develop an action plan to reduce A/R balances to meet LCS benchmarks.
  • Analyze financial results and short-term projections, as necessary.
  • Assist in hiring and training of on-site accounting staff.
  • Create 90-day plan for success for new Accounting Director.
  • Coordinate operational audit of on-site accounting functions to ensure proper accounting controls and procedures are based on the Quality Standards manual and Best Practices.
  • Implement recommended improvements, as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with all necessary parties regarding current assignments.
  • Engage Community Finance team member; leveraging expertise as interim AD to surface suggested changes to processes and procedures or potential pitfalls of changes.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What We're Looking For: 

  • Four-year degree in accounting/finance or equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum of five to seven years of related experience.
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with Senior Living industry preferred
  • Customer service oriented and able to understand the customers' needs and expectations
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, prioritize work schedules, and complete tasks by desired due dates
  • Flexible and able to handle changing priorities and interruptions
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet organizational deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of people including field personnel, auditors, and all levels of LCS personnel
  • Possess analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to solve accounting and system problems of medium difficulty
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Use of proper grammar, content, and identified standards/format.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Billing)
  • Proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, etc.)
