Title: Accounting Intern

Department: Accounting

Reports to: Controller

Location: Corporate Office

Purpose:

Position Summary

The Accounting Intern supports the accounting department through assistance with transactional accounting activities, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end close preparation. This internship is designed to provide foundational exposure to accounting operations within a multi-divisional fuel transportation organization.

The role focuses on developing practical accounting knowledge, system familiarity, and understanding of financial processes in a high-volume operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with preparation and organization of journal entry support documentation
Support account reconciliation preparation and review processes
Assist with AP, AR, payroll, or billing validation tasks as assigned
Organize and maintain accounting documentation and records
Assist with data entry and reporting requests
Support month-end close preparation activities
Research basic discrepancies and escalate issues appropriately
Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives
