FMI โ€“ The Food Industry Association: Weโ€™re Hiring an Accounts Payable Assistant (Hybrid Role)


Are you detail-oriented, customer-focused, and interested in supporting the financial operations of an area trade association? FMI is looking for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join our Accounting team.


Quick Snapshot: In this role, youโ€™ll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of FMI Accounts Payable, ensuring proper invoice coding, 1099 reporting and tax compliance.


What Youโ€™ll Do in This Role?

  • Process vendor invoices, reviewing proper coding, documentation, and payment amount.
  • Review vendor invoices for sales and use tax compliance and 1099 reporting.
  • Facilitate vendor onboarding (obtaining tax and banking forms).
  • Assist with vendor conflict resolution.
  • Maintain/coordinate A/P invoice tracking, vendor files, and accounts payable records.
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations.


Education and Skills That Youโ€™ll Need to Be Successful:

  • A minimum of one to two years of prior professional work experience in a similar role or related field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic accounting functions.
  • Experience with a computerized accounting system is a must.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is required.
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal communication skills with strong customer service and team orientation.
  • Must be self-directed with excellent time and project management skills and an ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks with strict attention to detail and with minimal supervision.

We offer a $100 monthly transportation reimbursement to offset commuting costs.
