Job description

Are you interested in doing PR the right way? In taking time to craft and lead the communications strategies for the best technology companies in the world? Would you like to be part of a tight-knit, highly effective team built on values of positivity, transparency and mutual trust? If so, we’re in search of an Account Executive to provide experienced leadership on multiple client accounts and support our growing practice as a top PR firm in New York.

Location: Manhattan, NY (Remote option 2 days a week)

Comp range: $64 – $72k

Our mission: By engaging with the news media, we work to effectively communicate the missions, progress, and impact of the best technology companies in the world. https://www.haymaker.co/

Why this role exists: The Account Executive will report to a Senior Account Executive, with a mission to provide world‑class support on multiple client accounts.

What’s in it for me? If you’re seeking impact, ownership, and the space to do high‑quality work without burning out, this role is for you. Haymaker is a tightly‑knit team of ten, but we outperform firms more than 20 times our size and work with some of the best names in technology. We enjoy meaningful, long‑term relationships with our clients, a highly‑selective client selection process, and a supportive, collaborative internal culture.

As Account Executive, you will play an outsized role in working directly with media and client executives, managing the junior team, and helping to shape the direction of the company. This role provides significant opportunities for leadership, creativity, and the ability to grow and advance at an accelerated pace.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance benefits
  • Wellness (Citi Bike Membership)
  • Ancillary (Commuter Benefits)
  • The best colleagues you could ask for
Required Experience
  • Undergraduate degree or higher
  • Some agency or in‑house communications internship experience preferred (1-3 years experience)
Objective Outcomes
  • You will support several client accounts by organizing weekly agendas, taking detailed notes for both internal and external meetings, developing media lists, creating briefing documents, and tracking deliverables
  • You will secure client coverage by engaging with the news media, and by systematically deepening and broadening a set of real media relationships
  • You will use well‑honed writing skills to develop initial drafts of award applications, press releases, and op‑eds
  • You will receive mentorship and interact closely with Senior Leadership on a daily basis
  • This is a traditional PR role with exposure to both corporate and consumer media objectives
Core Competencies / Hard Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • World‑class organizational skills
  • Extremely detail‑oriented
  • A knack for relentlessly crystallizing next steps and operationalizing ideas
  • A bias towards non‑transactional networking
  • Hunger to learn, grow, and receive candid feedback
Personal Attributes / Soft Skills
  • Driven, but easy‑going
  • Proactive
  • Adaptable
  • Team mentality
  • Growth mindset
  • A love of media and the written word

This candidate should possess a team mentality, where they are willing to pull their weight on accounts outside of their responsibility (wherever possible) and be willing to proactively think about new ways to facilitate client success.

Though this is a junior role, this candidate should also be comfortable managing and mentoring Haymaker’s internship team.
