Job Summary

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you will perform fundamental nursing tasks and procedures under the direction of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN). Your role focuses on providing personal care and restorative procedures to residents. Tasks may vary from full assistance with daily living activities to helping residents achieve greater independence in these activities. As a key member of the nursing team, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) ensures the highest quality of care and support.

Pay Rate: $20.00-$26.50 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), your responsibilities include:

  • Performing personal care tasks and assisting residents with activities of daily living.

  • Supporting residents in achieving independence in self-performance activities.

  • Maintaining compliance with HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

  • Collaborating closely with the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Administrator, and other team members.

  • Demonstrating patience, understanding, and tact when interacting with residents, families, and staff.

  • Managing sudden changes in census, inappropriate or combative residents, and emotionally taxing situations with professionalism.

  • Maintaining a calm demeanor during emergencies.

  • Following verbal and written communications in English.

  • Problem-solving effectively and interpreting instructions accurately.

  • Communicating effectively with individuals of all educational levels.

  • Adapting to an environment with constant interruptions.

  • Learning and operating technical materials and equipment.

  • Entering and obtaining information using computer systems.

  • Adhering to facility policies, nursing service procedures, and care standards.

  • Organizing and managing a flexible schedule to coordinate job responsibilities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you will need:

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • A certificate documenting successful completion of a nurse aide training course approved by the Illinois Board of Educators or equivalent qualification as defined by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.

  • Active listing or eligibility to be listed on the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation CNA registry.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • The ability to handle emotionally and physically demanding situations with professionalism.

  • Competence in using technical equipment and learning new materials efficiently.
