General Description The West Virginia Department of Health Facilities is NOW HIRING dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses for William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston, WV.

Location: William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital - Weston, WV Compensation: $45.00 / hour ($40.00 base rate + $5.00 geographic pay differential) + shift differentials Benefits: Full health, dental, and vision coverage available for schedules of 30+ hours per week Assignment Options: Full-time, up to 12-month assignments As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at William R

Sharpe Jr. Hospital, you will deliver direct, high-quality nursing care to patients within our acute care state psychiatric facility. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed physician, you will oversee Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in delivering foundational patient care.

In this position, you will perform essential nursing duties-including administering medications, monitoring patient progress, recording vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). Assignments are based on-site at William R. Sharpe Jr.

Example of Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct patient care, including assisting with daily living activities, administering medications, and performing basic nursing duties. Work collaboratively under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or licensed physician to ensure comprehensive patient care. Oversee and support health service workers and certified nursing assistants, ensuring quality care delivery.

Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and document progress. Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring smooth transitions and continuity of care. Participate in maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff through monitoring, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention.

Set up and maintain medical supplies and equipment, ensuring they are readily available and in good working condition. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Minimum Qualifications Education: None.

Licensure/Certifications: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses. Experience: None. About the Organization The Department of Health Facilities offers a unique State Facility Travel Program for nurses and other direct care staff.

The purpose of the Program is aimed at reshaping its workforce structure to enhance efficiency, stability, and quality of care. Participants may be assigned to one or more of our three state-owned facilities based on staffing needs with assignments ranging from per diem to full-time. This program provides competitive hourly pay, benefits, and the opportunity to explore different care environments while supporting critical staffing efforts.

Travel staff may be eligible for a generous appointment incentive package with full state benefits upon transitioning to a permanent position. Participation in the Program is limited to twelve (12) months.
