Access Control Tech
Location: Tampa Bay FL
Duration: 6m Contract to hire
Start: June 15 (Possibly sooner)
Start Times: 7am
PR: $22-25
SOW: Responsible for the independent installation of low-voltage and electrical systems, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform device rough-in and trim-out for security and life safety systems
  • Mount and install field devices such as cameras, access control hardware, panels, and sensors
  • Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including Cat6, composite, and fiber (as applicable)
  • Read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, and scopes of work
  • Perform basic system testing, signal verification, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with NEC and local codes
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including redlines and daily work updates
  • Coordinate daily tasks with project leadership to support schedule adherence
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
  • Follow all safety protocols including PPE and equipment usage
  • Ability to independently install and terminate structured cabling systems
  • Understanding of grounding and bonding requirements
  • Experience with device mounting, wiring, and system layout
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools
  • Experience using cable testers, tone generators, and multimeters
  • Ability to operate ladders, lifts, and jobsite equipment safely
  • Direct hands-on experience installing access control systems is required, including door hardware, readers, controllers, and device wiring
  • Ability to follow system layouts and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to identify and resolve basic wiring and signal issues
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and riser diagrams
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices and OSHA standards

Required Skillset:
  • 3+ Years of low-voltage or electrical installation
  • Experience with conduit installation and structured cabling systems
  • Experience installing access control systems is required, including door hardware, readers, controllers, and device wiring
  • Ability to work on active construction sites
