Job Description Summary
West Virginia Paving, Inc. is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Asphalt Laborers through our On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program. No previous asphalt, construction, or related experience is required. We are looking for dependable individuals with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Successful candidates will receive hands-on training while working alongside experienced crew members and will have opportunities for career growth within the organization.
Requirements
  • No prior asphalt or construction experience required.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a hands-on outdoor environment.
  • Ability to work safely and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively in a team environment with co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Follow directions and complete assigned tasks as instructed.
  • Assist asphalt paving crews with general labor duties.
  • Learn to safely operate and maintain tools and equipment used on construction projects.
  • Assist with shoveling, raking, and distributing asphalt materials.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperature extremes.
  • Ability to work shifts typically ranging from 8 to 12 hours.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel to different job sites as needed.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude with co-workers, customers, and the public.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • No previous construction, asphalt, or heavy equipment experience required.
  • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • A strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn are required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as needed.
